Product Description
A pair of cast bronze ceremonial vases which came from Nepal in the early 19th century. Vases such a these were used in religious and celebratory ceremonies to hold sacred water and milk. This pair boasts very detailed engravings with a fine patina and little wear. Both are considered to be in excellent vintage condition.
Of interest may be the specific sourcing of these vases, from the private collection of Matthew Friedman. Friedman is author of three books on the subject of antique Asian bronze, including "Nepalese Casted Decanters, Vessels and Bowls," "Bangladesh Metal Casting: Five Techniques," and "Nepalese Cast Ceremonial Lamps." Fascinating stuff!
