Antique Persian Kurdish Saddle Bag

Product Description

This antique Persian saddle bag face from the Kurdish tribe has warm color ways, nomadic charm and is surely a little woven treasure with diamond pattern that they say signifies women. This is a saddle bag face and we only have a few in the collection.

They're special little works of art that have a lot of story as it was used by the tribe members on their livestock (typically camels, but also donkeys, and horses) to hold, carry and transport their goods. Typically, there would be two pouches bridged by a middle section that would sit on the back of the camel. For older pieces such as this one, it is only the bag face that we are left to cherish.

This handwoven piece is in worn condition. It is fully intact with worn ends. The raw, wool foundation is remarkable to see and feel. All the dyes you see are natural, vegetable dyes. This little gem can be used on the floor to warm up a space, but it can also be placed in many areas and on things...such as a vanity, table, piano, credenza...anywhere it goes...it will give you love and energy. From the late 1800s.
