Wooden Chinese Fertility Dolls

A rare pair of vintage Chinese wooden articulated fertility dolls. Both the male and female standing at 16 inches tall.
Traditionally these were kept at the temple and couples wishing to conceive would go to the temple and receive the dolls with a blessing from the priest and then they'd keep the dolls above their bed until they'd conceived. Very skillfully made and solid with the arms and legs rotating within their sockets enabling the dolls to be configured in many different positions. A rare offering.
