The Antilles Trading Company Pirate Museum offers an exciting experience for history lovers that romanticize the sea. Come join us, below the deck of a Pirate Sloop. Sloops were the most common choice of Pirates Ships during the 16th and 17th century for sailing in the waters around Florida and the Caribbean. Sloops were commonly built in Caribbean and were easily adapted for pirate antics. The average size of a Sloop was 65 feet, the same size as the museum. The great advantage of Sloops was that they were quick and could attack swiftly and get away fast. with a top speed of over 10 knots. Another advantage is that it could hide in shallower waters to escape warships because of the shallow draft.
